After protest, Bamenda Haemodialysis centre re-equipped

Dialysis patients of the Bamenda Regional hospital will smile again after eight new dialysis machines, eight beds, a good consignment of concentrated acids and 800, 10 litre containers of salime water were made available Wednesday 6th January by the Minister of Public Health

The consignment received by Dr Kingsley Che Soh, North West Regional Delegate of Public Health and Dr Nsame Denis, Director of the Bamenda Regional hospital came as a stress reliever to the over 55 patients who undergo dialysis at the centre

Seven of the eight machines operating at the centre broke down and the remaining one could not meet the expectations of the patients. Dr Kingsley Che Soh appeals to patients who left the centre to receive dialysis elsewhere to come back

"For those who went out of the region, they should come back. The installation of the equipment will be done immediately. So they should come back and continue their sessions at the same rate"

Dialysis patients are expected to have two days in a week at the centre. They're also expected to spend four hours per session. This was greatly affected due to the breakdown in machines. Mbinglo Francis, President of patients at the dialysis center, expressed optimism 

"I want to thank the Director for being our whistleblower. These materials will go a long way to assist us get our regular dialysis. We also want to thank the Minister of health for his prompt response"

The patients are expected to pay 5000 Frs per session and the reagents given can last for nine months according to the Delegate
