Classification of public structures: Camtel GM’s Efforts Places Company On Top

Judith Yah Sunday, GM of Camtel

The effort is yet another windfall from the structural transformation of the company embarked upon by its General Manager Judith Yah Sunday Achidi

Leading Telecommunications, Camtel has been upgraded to a first-category State enterprise following a recent ranking released by the Minister of Finance on August 13, 2026.

The ranking categorises state-owned enterprises based on their performances between the 2022 and 2024 fiscal years.

Thus, based on its strong financial performances during this period, Camtel was classified as a category 1 State Corporation, cementing its place as a prestigious and one of the most performant State Corporations in the country.

This recognition was received with pride and honour by the company’s General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Achidi who sees this as a call to work even harder to stay at the top.

“I’ve received so many congratulatory messages and gestures from across Cameroon and around the world today. I’m deeply honored and grateful for the recognition and for the opportunity to serve,” Camtel’s General Manager said in a Facebook post.

“Thank you to all our staff, clients, partners and stakeholders for your trust, dedication and continued support. This recognition belongs to all of us,” she added.

Fruits of Rigourous Management

The recent classification comes to confirm Camtel’s upward turn of fortunes since 2018 when the Head of State HE President Paul Biya handed the company’s to Judith Yah Sunday Achidi.

Since then, “Change Management and Customer Centricity” has been the mantra which she has relied upon to produce a wide range of positive results in record time.

From a revenue of FCFA 108 billion in 2018, it more than doubled to FCFA 217 billion in 2024 and surpassed FCFA 235 billion in 2025. All of these led to a net profit exceeding FCFA 13 billion for the first time in the company’s history in 2025.

These financial gains have been achieved and consolidated thanks to a rigorous policy aimed at harnessing and securing the company’s finances through the digitalization of payment methods.

The company has also embarked on a vast project to upgrade and boost its fibre optic network through the deployment of additional 3000 kilometres of fibre across the country.

The mobile segment is equally receiving a huge boost through Camtel’s Mobile Network Expansion Project which is upgrading and expanding its mobile coverage in several towns and rural areas across the country.

Aware of the fact that positive results can only come from a dynamic staff strength, Judith Yah Sunday Achidi embarked on a mission on 2024 to refresh the company’s human resources.

Thus, a wide range of recruitment exercises have been carried out since then with over 700 young Cameroonians with various competences recruited since then.

With Judith Yah Sunday Achidi overseeing a heavy investment in infrastructure and human resources, observers say Camtel is now poised to break the ceiling.
