The Tubah Municipal Council has held its mid-term performance and evaluation session this Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at the ICHAM Hotel Multipurpose Hall in Bambili . The session provided an opportunity to assess the execution of projects for the year 2026 and discuss challenges alongside actionable goals needed to fulfill development objectives. The comprehensive review included projects funded by multiple stakeholders, progress rates, and key milestones achieved so far this year.
For the 2026 financial year, the Tubah Council was tasked with executing a total of 26 projects valued at approximately 1.3 Billion FCFA, financed by various sources, including state budgets, FEICOM, HIMO/MINEPAT, and the council itself. The projects addressed critical areas such as infrastructure, waste management, environmental sustainability, and community welfare.
To date, an estimated 48% execution rate has been reported, with some projects fully completed, others progressing steadily, and a few still awaiting kick-off.
The evaluation highlighted several successfully completed projects that underscore the council’s dedication to advancing the Tubah Municipality:
- Tree Planting and Environment Conservation: The council achieved 80% progress in its tree planting initiative, which aims to improve the municipality’s green landscape and environmental sustainability. The project received an allocation of approximately 3.2 Million FCFA.
- Tubah Clean City Competition: Successfully organized at a cost of approximately 5 Million FCFA, this initiative showcased efforts to promote urban cleanliness and community involvement.
- Support for Finge Bridge Construction: The council supported the construction of a bridge in the Finge Community, which was completed with a budget of approximately 3.6 Million FCFA.
- Construction of Market Sheds: The construction of new market sheds at Bambili Market reached 90% completion, significantly enhancing the capacity for small-scale traders in the locality.
- Rehabilitation of Bambui Palace Museum:A near-completed project at 87%, the museum rehabilitation received funding of approximately 30 Million FCFA, aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of Tubah.
Several notable projects are in mid-completion stages, with progress continuing steadily. These include:
- Mini Recycling Plant in Bambili: The recycling plant construction, valued at approximately 125 Million FCFA, is 50% complete and aims to modernize waste recycling across the municipality.
- HIMO Road Pavement Project: The pavement of roads spanning Agric Street to Ndikum Street, Pacific Street, and Government School Junction progressed to 40% execution. This project, funded with approximately 120 Million FCFA, supports improved mobility and economic development.
While progress on some projects is commendable, others are lagging due to administrative and operational challenges:
- Storage Tank Construction: A PROLOG-funded project valued at approximately 47 Million FCFA has experienced delays, with award documents still in process.
- Water Extension Projects: The extension of pipe-borne water in Ntehmbang and the protection of Atunui catchment in Tubah both recorded minimal progress of 5% each. Contractors have been issued warning letters to expedite execution.
- Electrification to Ngohphana and Nchokeng: This project, aimed at expanding electricity access, and it is nearing completion at 95%. However, delays have caused the contractor to be summoned to a meeting by the Senior Divisional Officer.
Projects solely funded and executed by the Tubah Council have made a significant impact on the municipality. Among these initiatives are;
- Waste Management Plan: The preparation of a detailed waste management plan for Tubah was completed at a cost of approximately 4 Million FCFA, paving the way for a more sustainable approach to waste handling.
- Holiday Workers Recruitment: The council recruited 150 holiday workers to aid in project execution. At 50% completion, this initiative, funded with approximately 4.2 Million FCFA, will continue during the next evaluation phase.
- Maintenance of Council Trucks: The maintenance of council vehicles was successfully implemented with a 100% completion rate, to the tune of approximately 4.9 Million FCFA.
The evaluation also addressed accountability issues. Several contractors have been summoned by the S.D.O for Mezam, Simon Emile Moore and warned due to delays in project execution. The council assured stakeholders that non-performing contractors would face legal or administrative sanctions to avoid further delays.
Mayor Tanjong Martin Mushongho, expressed satisfaction with the progress made but acknowledged pressing challenges that must be addressed in the coming months. He emphasized the council’s commitment to completing delayed projects while ensuring the successful maturation of 2027 development projects. These preparations, at 100% completion, will ensure a solid foundation for next year’s activities. In addition to that Mayor Tanjong Martin gave words of appreciation to the Fons of Tubah who led the struggle effective back to school last year and urged them to do more this year especially in organizing their respective communities for community labour in the cleaning of government school compuses.
The mayor concluded by calling for stronger collaboration between the council, contractors, and funding agencies to keep Tubah Municipality on its developmental trajectory.
The mid-term performance review provided an in-depth overview of how Tubah Council projects are progressing, with some notable accomplishments despite challenges. As the session closed, council stakeholders and contractors committed to scaling up efforts in the second half of the year to ensure timely and successful completion of all 2026 projects.
Tubah Municipality remains optimistic about achieving its developmental milestones and improving residents' quality of life.
