Massive turnout marks Biya's 44th anniversary celebration in Tubah as the Militants openly endorsed Hon Agho Oliver for a second mandate. Former SDF Deputy Mayor Chikelem Boniface joins CPDM; militants demand performance-based selection of councillors
The CPDM Section Mezam V Tubah has endorsed Honourable Agho Oliver Bamenju for a second parliamentary term, while calling on the party leadership to ensure that only councillors with proven commitment and performance are retained ahead of the forthcoming municipal elections.
The endorsement came on November 6, 2026, during celebrations marking the 44th anniversary of President Paul Biya's accession to power. The gathering at Tubah brought together party officials, elected representatives and militants from across the subdivision.
Hon. Agho Oliver, who represents the Tubah and Bafut constituency in the National Assembly, was presented to the gathering by the Section President, Professor Peter Abety, following calls from militants for his return to Parliament.
Accepting the endorsement, the parliamentarian expressed humility and readiness to continue serving the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the CPDM Mezam Divisional Permanent Delegation, Central Committee Delegate Eric Adangfung, who led the Mezam V campaign team during the 2025 Presidential elections promised to convey the message and expectations of Tubah militants to the party leadership in Yaounde.
The celebration also witnessed a notable political defection, with Chikelem Boniface, a former Deputy Mayor of Tubah Council under the Social Democratic Front (SDF), officially joining the CPDM.
His defection comes as the party intensifies political activities ahead of the municipal and legislative elections.
Beyond endorsing the incumbent parliamentarian, militants used the occasion to express their expectations concerning the selection of candidates for the municipal elections. They called on the party to retain only councillors who have demonstrated commitment, focus and tangible results in serving the population.
The appeal signals growing interest among grassroots supporters in making performance and accountability important considerations in the party's choice of candidates.
Massive Turnout
The activities in Tubah were led by the CPDM Section President Prof Peter Abety and attended amongst others by the Mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin.
