TAKAD Awards 2026 Launches Preparatory Mission in Douala

International delegation to build partnerships ahead of 7th edition in Gabon

The International Organizing Committee of the TAKAD Awards is set to begin an official preparatory mission in Douala from August 19 to 26, 2026, ahead of the seventh edition of the awards scheduled to take place in Gabon in December.

The mission is aimed at strengthening partnerships and mobilising institutional, cultural, economic and media stakeholders around the promotion of African excellence.

The 2026 edition will be held under the theme “Africa, a continent of the future and of opportunities for humanity", with the slogan “TAKAD AWARDS 7th Edition, the grand ball of African geniuses.”

According to the organisers, the awards seek to celebrate Africans whose excellence, creativity and impact are making a difference both on the continent and internationally.

A high-level delegation led by TAKAD Awards Founding President Hercule Nze Souala will be in Douala for the mission. He will be accompanied by Vice-President Oulare Lassane and Queen Eteme, African Legend of Excellence, Honorary President of the International Organizing Committee and President of the Cameroon Local Committee.

The delegation is expected to meet traditional rulers in the Littoral Region as part of efforts to secure local support for the initiative.

One of the major activities will be a press conference and Meet & Greet scheduled for Saturday, August 22, at Bano Palace in Akwa, Douala, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The event will bring together media professionals, authorities, cultural stakeholders and potential partners. It will feature official speeches, networking and a red-carpet reception, as well as discussions on “The State of African Excellence” and “Building from Africa, for the World.”

The programme will also include tributes to laureates and pioneers, cultural performances, a partnership pitch session and media interviews.

During their stay in Douala, the delegation is also expected to hold meetings with the Governor of the Littoral Region, municipal authorities, media executives, economic operators, traditional and community leaders, and professional artists' organisations.

A media tour, including interviews and appearances on partner media platforms, is also planned.

The organisers say the mission is part of a broader national tour intended to create credible partnerships and generate wider support for the seventh edition of the TAKAD Awards.

The Douala mission will end on Tuesday, August 26, when the delegation is expected to leave for Yaoundé, the next stop on its national tour.

Through the 2026 edition, the TAKAD Awards say they intend to continue using recognition of African achievers as a way of inspiring young people and promoting a stronger culture of excellence across the continent.

“Celebrating impact today to inspire the next generation” remains the central commitment of the organisers as preparations for the December ceremony in Gabon gather pace.
