The Fon of Baligham, HRH Samkie Elvis Gahnyam II, has renewed his commitment to promoting peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among young people through sports.

The traditional ruler made the call during the 14th edition of the Doh Gahnyam II Peace and Unity Cup, where he praised participating teams and youths for demonstrating discipline and fair play throughout the competition.

The tournament, which brings together young footballers, is aimed at using sports as a platform to strengthen peace, unity and social cohesion within the community and beyond.

Fon Gahnyam II urged the youths to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship displayed during the competition and to avoid actions that could undermine peace and unity.

He stressed the importance of discipline, tolerance and respect among young people, particularly at a time when communities need greater cooperation and peaceful coexistence.

The 14th edition ended with White Cat Yaounde FC emerging as champions after defeating Young Star Bamenda FC in the final to lift the Doh Gahnyam II Peace and Unity Cup.

The victory crowned what organisers described as an edition focused not only on football but also on bringing young people together around a common message of peace.

The tournament has continued to provide an avenue for youths to interact, compete and build relationships across communities, reinforcing the role of sport in peacebuilding.

Fon Gahnyam II's renewed appeal for discipline and unity comes as the Baligham community continues to use the competition to encourage young people to become agents of peace and positive change.

The traditional ruler also congratulated the champions and all participating teams, while encouraging the youths to carry the values of fair play, unity and peaceful coexistence beyond the football field.

The 14th Doh Gahnyam II Cup has therefore ended with White Cat Yaounde FC taking home the trophy, but with the broader message of peace and unity remaining at the heart of the competition.
