A monument has been unveiled in honour of Mformi Stephen Ndzerem Njodzeka, the late former Director General of the Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS), celebrating his life of service and lasting impact on communities across Cameroon.
The ceremony took place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the SHUMAS Centre in Bamenda. It was presided over by the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, and attended by religious leaders, traditional authorities, civil administrators, civil society actors, and many admirers.
The monument, which stands at the entrance of the SHUMAS Centre, was donated by Banye Patrick, Dr. Eugene Yeika, and Jane Francis. It was designed and created by artist Mr. Ralph. The structure serves as a lasting symbol of Pa SHUMAS’ dedication to helping others, especially vulnerable people.
Mformi Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka was widely respected for his leadership and humanitarian work through Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS). Over the years, he led projects that improved lives in areas such as education, health, water, and support for disadvantaged communities.
The idea to build the monument began in 2021. A group called “Immortalizing Nso Legends” wanted to honour him while he was still alive, in recognition of his outstanding contributions. However, he passed away before the project was completed and did not witness the unveiling.
Despite his absence, the monument now stands as a powerful reminder of his life and work. It reflects the deep respect people have for him and the many lives he touched.
Speakers at the ceremony described him as a man who lived with purpose, compassion, and commitment to service. They noted that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations to serve their communities.
He died at the age of 55.
