The various committees after reviewing the draft budget, called on the Mayor to use the heavy duty equipment purchased in 2024 and 2025 to open farm-to-market roads, name the streets of Bafut and create new streets. A commitment which the Mayor says will be done progressively since the naming of streets across the 58 villages cannot be done at a go.

The councillors also recommended the teaching of the Bafut anthem (Mban) and the Bafut culture to young persons. The council has promised to purchase the current handbook and give it to the community at almost no cost so as to transfer the knowledge of the village to the generations unborn.

The education committee saluted Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence for the infrastructural development in this sector. The council currently stands second in Mezam in the execution of public investment projects for 2025. Bafut Council stands at over 95%. The Mayor explained that the last project which is delaying is the plastering of a two classroom block and the project is ongoing.

The councillors used the budget session to brainstorm on how to recommence the collection of tolls on sand that is mined in lower Bafut. A strategy was adopted which if implemented will greatly increase the resources of the council.

2026 will also see the operational face of the Bafut  community radio which will be broadcast at the entry to the subdivision.

Reacting at the budget session, the representative of the SDO of Mezam, Forkou Andelys, Divisional Officer of Bafut, saluted the maturity of the councillors and called on the council executives to work to realize the budget. A commitment which the Mayor took.
