Menka Green Valley Cooperative Credit Union Mobilizes 1,103 New Members, Savings Hit 1.1 Billion FCFA

Members of Menka Green Valley Cooperative Credit Union have applauded the Board of Directors and Management for outstanding results recorded in 2025.

Members took turns to appreciate the running of the category 1 microfinance during its 12th Annual General Meeting on the 7th of February 2026 at the PCC Ntamulung Multipurpose Hall, Bamenda.

The Union was able to mobilize 1,103 new members in 2025. The members were encouraged to bring in new members, so they can benefit from the products and services offered at the credit Union. Total membership as at 31st December 2025 stands at 4,556.

Total shares moved from 53 million in 2024 to 53.9 million in 2025. Experiencing a relative growth rate of 19%.



There was a constituent increase in the member savings of the union to 1.1 billion Francs, witnessing a relative growth of 13.3%.

This is thanks to the community's involvement in the management of the union as it is members owned and there is a shared bond.

The members of the union also receive financial education on what they can invest on, what is profitable and how loans can be managed.

Penn Lingus Fonguh, GM

Menka Green Valley Cooperative Credit Union according to its General Manager, Penn Linus Fonguh, also grants Green loans to small scale businesses to finance environmental products especially in renewable energy.

Loans are also granted to business operators at a minimal interest rate.

The most outstanding product at Menka Green Valley Cooperative Credit Union is preference shares. Here, subscribers can apply for a share at 500,000 Francs and a member can get at most 20 shares. The interest rate is 8% per annum shared at 4% every semester

Menka Green Valley Cooperative Credit Union paid 4% on ordinary shares to the applause of its members.

The President of the Board of Directors, Awah Fidelis Penn, used the AGM to call on all the members present to ensure that they top their total shares to the required 40,000 Francs. He hinted that subsequent benefits will not be paid to members who have not reached the required shares.

Menka Green Valley Cooperative Credit Union Limited plans to do a massive mobilisation of new members in 2026 while working hard to reduce the current loan delinquency which stands at 33%.



To curb this, the union will embark on member education, amicable settlements with delinquent members, rescheduling, restructuring and re-financing loans while those who fail to comply will face legal actions.

The credit union cure runs branches in Menka, Bamenda, Douala at Airport Youka, Douala Bonaberi, Mile 4 Limbe, Biyem Assi Yaounde, Santa and Bafoussam.
