The Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations, Felix Mbayu, has taken President Paul Biya’s message of peace, unity, and development to the Muslim community of Old Town Bamenda, ahead of the October 12, 2025 presidential election.

Addressing worshippers and CPDM militants at the Grand Mosque in Old Town on October 4, Minister Mbayu called on the Muslim faithful to continue being ambassadors of peace and progress. He praised the community’s long-standing loyalty to the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), noting that their unity and discipline have made them a cornerstone of stability in Bamenda.

“The Muslim community has always stood firm with the CPDM. You have shown loyalty through thick and thin, even during the Prime Minister’s visit when you came out in large numbers under heavy rain. That is proof of your commitment,” Minister Mbayu told the gathering.

He urged the faithful not to be swayed by detractors or political opportunists, reminding them that most development projects benefitting Old Town—such as the new Islamic school and the tarring of internal roads—were realized thanks to President Paul Biya’s vision for inclusive national development.

“The good things you enjoy are the fruits of President Paul Biya’s leadership,” he said. “Vote for the man who has proven his worth, who delivers, who keeps the peace, and who builds. Vote for Paul Biya, not for those who make promises without results.”

Beyond campaign rhetoric, Minister Mbayu’s relationship with the Muslim community runs deep. Over the years, he has supported various local initiatives including donations of sugar and flour during Ramadan, scholarships and back-to-school assistance for children, and the supply of 250 bags of cement for the Eid prayer ground project.

These gestures, he said, stem from his belief that development is most meaningful when it touches lives directly and strengthens communities. “President Biya’s leadership is about peace and people-centered progress. That is why we must all continue to walk together,” the Minister added.

The meeting also came as other political parties intensified their outreach in the region. However, the CPDM militants of Old Town expressed renewed confidence in the ruling party and distanced themselves from visiting political opponents, vowing to remain steadfast in their support for President Biya.

As the campaign season gains momentum, Minister Felix Mbayu’s message resonated with the community: that unity, peace, and loyalty remain the foundation for continued progress in Bamenda and beyond.
