Militants of the Youth Wing of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) party in the North West region have donated the sum of seven million francs to support the candidacy of their president, Paul Biya at the 2025 Presidential elections.
Gathered at the Congress Hall in Bamenda for their Mega Rally on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, the over 2000 CPDM youth presented their motion of support to President Paul Biya whom they described as their natural candidate.
The contribution, made up of funds from the 34 sections of the YCPDM was handed over to Auguste Essomba, National President of the YCPDM.
While presenting the money to the National Youth President, Mayor Dinghambong Anthony Mvo, and Mayor Chenwi Peter, National Bureau members of the party's Youth Wing from the North West, said they have raised the funds to show their commitment in supporting the Candidature of their president.
"We are supporting our national chairman not because he lacks funds for his candidacy, but to show him that the CPDM youths in the North West are committed and firm in supporting his candidature and the ideals of the New Deal," Mayor Chenwi Peter stated.
Auguste Essomba expressed his delight at the turnout and the youths' enthusiasm for President Biya's potential bid.
"I came here expecting to see a few people, but I've seen thousands. I will make my report and it will be a complete reflection of what I've seen, witnessed, and heard here," he said.
Essomba praised the young militants for their resilience, courage, and dynamism, adding that President Paul Biya's offer is the best political option that is available for the country. He promised to transmit the contribution to the President and expressed confidence that the 2025 presidential election would have a similar outcome to the 2018 election, with President Biya emerging as the winner.
Before the announcement, the youths of the seven Divisions of the North West, took to the rostrum to declare their unflinching support to the National President of the CPDM, President Paul Biya, promising to stand by him before, during and after the Presidential elections.
They baptized the new 7-year mandate that the President of the Republic is about to seek as "a mandate of Emergence," driving Cameroon towards emergence in 2035.
Speaking as she delivered her keynote address, the interim Head of the CPDM Central Committee Regional Permanent Delegation to the North West, Senator Mrs Regina Mundi called on the youth to take positive actions towards registering and voting massively at the polls during the upcoming elections. She called on the young people to be disciplined and to know their future successes can only be guaranteed by President Paul Biya who possessed the force of experience.
The mega rally in Bamenda was attended amongst others by Members of Government, Senators, Members of the National Assembly, General Managers of state corporations who all threw their weight behind the youths for standing with President Paul Biya.
The mega rally which was also a celebration of the achievements of President Paul Biya in the North West Region was done in songs and dance.
