The Mayor of Wum Council, Dighambong Anthony has pleaded with the steering committee of the PPRD to construct the Bamenda- Wum road.
He was speaking in Bamenda Friday 4th July 2025 as the 7th steering committee of the PPRD met.
According to the Mayor, it is an uphill task to move from the Regional capital, Bamenda to the Divisional capital of Menchum, Wum.
"Your Excellency it is a nightmare. We are pleading that after the ring road ends in Misaje, the next phase should be Bamenda to Wum." Mayor Dighambong said.
The road, which has been an eyesore of recent, has seen people from Menchum Division go to their villages only on bikes. Corpses are also transported only on bikes at very exorbitant prices.
Mayor Dighambong also stated that Menchum Division is an agricultural hub in the North West. "Foodstuffs cannot be transported out of the villages because of the poor nature of the road." He said.
He ended his presentation by calling on a frank collaboration between the PPRD and the councils in project selection and project implementation.
A remark that Minister Paul Tasong, President of the steering committee said, has been noted.
