Senator Fointama Hilda Aluma recently embarked on a one week high-impact working visit to Boyo Division.
Her visit demonstrated her commitment to grassroots development, education, humanitarian outreach, and cultural engagement.
During her visit, she focused on empowering local communities, promoting youth education, supporting vulnerable populations, and reinforcing ties with traditional leadership.
The Senator's visit began with a tour to some three major secondary schools in Fundong, where she donated some fifteen ultra-modern high-speed computers to facilitate the learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Accompanying the computers the senator also donated some science text books to aid the teaching process for teachers as well as the learning process of the science students.
At Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Fundong, Christ the King High School (CKHS) Fundong, and St. Jude College Fundong, Senator Fointama delivered motivational speeches, urging students to remain resilient and focused on academic excellence. She emphasized the importance of education in building a prosperous and inclusive Cameroon, pledging to advocate for better educational infrastructure and student support programs.
Senator Fointama also made a heartfelt visit to the Harvest Children's Home orphanage in Fundong, where she donated food items and provisions to care for the vulnerable children. The Senator expressed her resolve to continue supporting disadvantaged children, highlighting the importance of community solidarity in caring for those in need.
The Senator paid a courtesy visit a visit to the Kom Palace, where she paid homage to the Fon of Kom, Fon Clement Ndzi II. Senator Fointama was received with traditional honors and blessings, and she reaffirmed her commitment to preserving the cultural values of the Kom people while advancing the socio-economic welfare of the Kom and Boyo. The Fon of Kom commended her dedication to service, humility, and community development.
In a bid to support local agriculture and enhance food security, Senator Fointama concluded her tour donating farming tools to local farmers on the 20th of May during the celebrations of the 53rd National Day in Fundong which completed her working visit in the Boyo Division. The donated items included cutlasses, hoes, wheelbarrows, and watering cans. She encouraged the farmers to continue working diligently, assuring them of continued support for sustainable farming initiatives.
Senator Fointama's visit to Boyo Division was marked by a people-centered approach, grounded in tradition and focused on sustainable development. Her actions left a lasting impact on the people of Fundong and the wider Boyo Division. On May 20th 2025, she was honoured by the state with a medal recognizing her as Knight of the Cameroon Order of Valour for her outstanding services and contribution to nation building.
The visit of Senator Fointama Hilda is a true prove grassroot development which impacted all the domains of educational, cultural and agricultural development fostering showcasing her own contribution to nation building and hope to the local community.
