"Making Belo Great Again" is the slogan that has been adopted by the Mayor of the Municipality, Dr Ngong Innocent as the council has envisaged some strategic United Nations Sustainable Development projects which shall be used to develop the municipality as well as better and change the living standards of her inhabitants.
Operation No poverty, Zero Hunger, Quality Education was the centre of attraction as Councillors assembled and voted the budget for the 2023 financial year Wednesday December 21, 2022.
With a view to alleviate poverty in the Municipality, the sum of 659,900,000 was voted, balanced in income and expenditure.
The budget will facilitate the achievement of projects such as refurbishment of schools, providing health equipment to health centres, improve the hygiene and sanitation of the council area, road maintenance and construction of bridges and culverts.
Belo, being one of the epicentres of the sociopolitical unrest in the North West Region will see an increase in the recruitment of young persons as a means to improve empower them and also to fight defiant behaviour.
Road maintenance at Mejang, construction of first primary school at Ngemsiho, providing agricultural inputs, improving the livestock in the area have elaborated as a means to combat poverty and eventually improve on the standards of living.
Sticking to the policy of decentralization which the government is also working on, Mayor Ngong Innocent has urged all councillors to continuously come up with projects which will help develop the municipality to its maximum capacity.
