Some close to two million persons resident in the 20 Health Districts of the North West are being targeted to get the anti COVID-19 vaccine as the region launched the 5th round of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Launched at the esplanade of the North West Governor's office, the population has been encouraged to get vaccinated so as to prevent any emergency.

Governor Lele LAfrique encouraging the population to get vaccinated

Speaking at the launch in Bamenda Friday November 18th, 2022, the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele LAfrique appealed to  those not vaccinated to dump the conspiracy theory because COVID-19 is real.

"I am appealing to those who are not yet vaccinated to go to the various vaccination centres in our region. Even those who took the vaccine long ago have to renew their vaccines so as to be ready to fight the new wave contamination in the region." Governor Lele LAfrique told the press.

Dr Kingsley Che Soh, Public Health Delegate

Though the 5th wave is not as devastating as the 4th, the Regional Delegate of Public Health, Kingsley Che Soh stressed that the vaccination campaign is to prevent the emergence of a sixth COVID-19 wave.

He encouraged all those above 18 without a history of allergies to drugs to get vaccinated.

The North West Region is still lagging behind with a vaccination rate of 11 percent of the potential 2 million eligible.

Health workers bracing up for a hitch free campaign

Just 103,000 persons have taken the vaccine so far across the region.

As the health workers go down to the field to increase these numbers, note should be taken that the North does not have an active case.
