Boum Bissoue Raymond who previously served in the North West Region as the Legion Commander has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
He is one of six Generals appointed by Presidential Decree number 2025/309 of the 15th July 2025 bearing on the promotion of certain colonels to the Grade of Brigadier Generals.
During his tenure as North West Legion Commander he worked closely with Generals Nka Valere and Ekongwese Divine to carry out several operations in Bamenda and beyond including the operation Bamenda clean, Widi-Bali, Bafut 1 and 2, Ngoke-Bui, amongst others.
Often known as a listening officer, Boum Bissoue Raymond diligently carried out his functions in the North West Region, working during the heart of the crisis to maintain law and order and ensure that people's goods and properties were safe.
He left the North West Region on the 14th March 2024. He was appointed to serve as Deputy Coordinator at the Secretariat of State Defense, SED. A position he cumulatively held with that of Director of Employment and Structures.
The experienced Gendarme officer will now continue his career as Commander of the 3rd Gendarmerie Region with Command Post in Garoua.
Other senior officers promoted to the rank of General is Sadjo Wassouni Robert. The former Chief of Staff of the 5th Joint Military Region is known for his pragmatism at work, ensuring efficiency and little errors. Sadjo Wassouni Robert before his appointment was serving as the Commander of the 51st Motorized Infantry Brigade in Bamenda.
Also appointed is Pelene Francois. The General Coordinator of the Rapid Intervention Battalion the BIR. He recently came to Bamenda to inaugurate the BIR camp in Bali which has largely contributed to the peace and serenity currently enjoyed in that subdivision and beyond.
Others appointed include Chembou Zambou Guy Merlin, Ngolo Ngomba Tobie Gabriel in the infantry while Ade Nkwenti Hilary was appointed in the National Marine.
Ade Nkwenti Hilary becomes the 5th Anglophone General after General Ivo Delsancio Yenwo, General Elokobi, General Agha Robinson, and General Ekongwese Divine Nnoko who are still serving in the ranks of the army. Previous officers from Anglophone Cameroon who were appointed Generals include General Tataw and General Tumenta.
