Bamenda II Mayor Encourages Quarter Heads to own local projects

The Mayor of Bamenda II subdivisional council has encouraged Quarter heads to be owners of projects being executed by the council in their various Quarters

The Mayor, Chenwi Peter, made this declaration Wednesday January 27th 2021 as he met with Quarter heads, councillors and the council staff to better prepare the execution of projects allocated for the council area in 2021

"The Quarters need to own their projects. If these projects are not realised, the credits will go back to Yaounde. My fervent wish is that Quarter Heads can better ensure that projects are realised for the better good of the community" Mayor Chenwi Peter told the Observer

The council has planned key development projects like water extension, the extension of Electricity, opening of roads, construction of some quarter halls. The quarter heads were charged to ensure that these projects are effectively realised within the council area

The council plans to spend 640 million to realise these projects in 2021

The various Quarter heads representing the four Fondoms of the Bamenda II Council area,  highlighted that the bad roads, access to Electricity, youth unemployment is a major worry in the empowerment of villagers from their area

Mayor Peter Chenwi reassured them that the projects will be executed under their strict supervision

The guest of honour of the day, MIDENO General Manager, Cletus Anye Matorya saluted the initiatives undertaken by the council and challenged them to do better in 2021

The Mayor was also awarded a prize as best performing Mayor for 2021 by the Confederation of Anglophone Journalists for a United and Stable Cameroon, CCAJUSCAM
