5th Gendermarie region: Col. Boum takes over as new Legion commander

Colonel Boum Bissoue Raymond has officially taken over command at the 5th Gendermarie region as the legion commander. He takes over from Colonel Nkoa Mala Sidonie Valere transferred to Yaounde as Inspector in the National gendamerie. The ceremony took place Wednesday April 22nd, 2020.

Speaking shortly after the technical handing over, Col. Boum Bissoue Raymond said he came to continue with the good work that his predecessor has done.

"I came to continue with the work my predecessor has done. We are here for the place to be stable and we hope to do our best for peace to return to this very beautiful part of our country", Colonel Boum Bissoue Raymond told the press.

General Ekongwese salutes the outgoing Colegion


Earlier, the commander of the 5th gendamerie region, Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine saluted the efforts and devotedness of the outgoing legion commander who during his four years stay in the region was particularly determined in his mission of ensuring security in the North West region.

To the new legion commander, Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine enjoined him to get to work immediately so as to ensure the peace and security of the people. He reminded him of the necessity to reinforce the confidence between the population and the military.


In regards to the Covid-19 pandemic, Brigadier General Ekongwese Divine called on the new legion commander to ensure the strict respect of the hygienic measures put in place by the government to curb the spread of the virus.

Colonel Boum Bissoue Raymond is not new in the North West region. He is the former commander of the "Escadron 90" and former commander of the Mbengwi gendamerie.
