The Mayor of Fundong council, Denis Awoh Ndang, has been decorated as Commander of the Cameroon Order of Merit.
The Mayor was decorated on May 20th 2025 as Fundong joined the nation to celebrate the 53rd National Day.
The medal which was saluted by the living forces of the Municipality, is testament of the development prowess of the Mayor who put Fundong on the spotlight.
He has successfully organized the Fundong Economic Days, recognizing and rewarding outstanding farmers. Fundong Council was one of the first to start the Human intensive Labour approach, HILA, creating jobs for the youths while developing the community.
In the area of disability inclusion, the council has adopted the approach of constructing only disability accessible buildings, providing enormous support to the persons with disabilities.
Effective schools in Fundong today despite the ravaging crisis is credited to his prowess.
Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang, a super scale engineer, is also the Regional President of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon, UCCC.
His stewardship has seen the cancellation of some loans owed by councils to FEICOM.
Mayor Awoh Ndang dedicated his Medal to the Fundong community. " I specially dedicate this medal to the community and council staff for their continuous support towards the development of Fundong especially with the ongoing crises and I am encouraging the people of Fundong to remain resilient and hopeful for there is light at the end of the tunnel". Mayor Ndang told the Observer in an exclusive interview.
The dedication of Mayor Awoh Ndang Denis's medal to the community and council staff of Fundong is a true prove of collaboration within the Fundong municipality.
