Matorya Takes Command As MEDINO GM


NW Gov. Congratulates Matorya


Cletus Anye Matorya has officially been installed as the General Manager of the North West Development Authority, MEDINO.

Installing the New Manager, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Henri Eyebe Ayissi, challenged him to do all to accelerate the drive towards emergence of the North West Region by accelerating the modernisation of agriculture

MEDINO will have as mission to construct modern warehouses, transformation of farm produce before it reaches the market, and make available farm inputs to farmers in the region. The structure will also have to make available, farm to market roads

MEDINO was created in 1981 to coordinate Rural Development in the North West and currently runs programmes like MEDINO phase1, GP-DERUDEP phase 1 and 2, all in the agricultural sector and the Livestcok and Fisheries programme, LIFIDEP


Vincent Ndumu Nji, Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council in his welcome address, called on the Ministry of Agriculture to always make subventions early if the activities of MEDINO must touch the grassroots. To the incoming General Manager, he was encouraged to step up the agricultural productivity of the North West especially as the Bamenda-Ekok-Enugu corridor is now open and gives the region access to the rest of West Africa

Cletus Anye Matorya takes over an institution that has not known another as General Manager for 27 years. John B. Ndeh, the outgoing GM, goes on a deserved retirement from public life

Matorya is a seasoned Economist, trained as a teacher. He rose to the position of HOD of Economics in the then GSS Mankon and later Senior Master of Discipline before appointed North West Regional Delegate for Trade. A position he served until his most recent appointment

He is 51 years of age and is the Mezam 1B Section President of the CPDM
