The completion of the 31-kilometre Ndu–Nkambe road section is a significant achievement for the North West Region and a moment of recognition for MAG SARL, the construction company that executed the project.
On October 8, 2026, the project team carried out the provisional reception of the completed works, marking an important milestone in the development of the Kumbo–Ndu–Nkambe–Misaje road, National Road No. 11.
The project, co-financed by the Government of Cameroon and the African Development Bank (AfDB), is expected to improve movement between communities, facilitate the transportation of goods and strengthen trade links between Cameroon and neighbouring Nigeria.
Shey Jones YembeFor MAG SARL, led by Shey Jones Yembe, completing this section is particularly noteworthy because the work was carried out in an area affected by insecurity. Despite the challenges, the company continued with construction and brought the 31-kilometre stretch to the provisional reception stage.
This achievement deserves recognition, not only because of the road itself, but also because of the people who contributed to making it possible.
One of the notable aspects of the project was its contribution to local employment.
MAG SARL engaged 235 permanent workers, including women, with 187 recruited from communities within the project area. About 400 temporary workers were also mobilised during different stages of the works, including subcontractors.
Sections on the road
The project brought together workers with different skills, including engineers, machine operators, drivers, mechanics, welders, construction workers, administrative staff and road safety personnel.
Women also played important roles in administration, cleaning, attendance recording and traffic management on the construction site.
For those in Ndu, Nkambe and neighbouring communities, improved roads make everyday life easier.
The road will help farmers transport their produce to the market, enable traders to move goods more easily and improve access to schools, health facilities and other essential services.
The wider Kumbo–Ndu–Nkambe–Misaje route is also expected to strengthen connections across the North West Region and contribute to cross-border economic activities with Nigeria.
Under the leadership of Shey Jones Yembe, MAG SARL has contributed to a project of clear importance to the communities it serves.
The provisional reception has been done but it does not necessarily mark the end of every contractual obligation, as further checks and requirements may remain before final acceptance. Nevertheless, it is an important milestone in the project's progress.
The stretch delivered by MAG Sarl is part of the ringroad project.
