African Women Leaders To be Celebrated at Target Peace Global Fellowship, July 31

 

A virtual gathering will spotlight resilience, innovation, and impact among women changemakers across Africa and the diaspora.

The “Excellent, Smart, & Supportive Woman” initiative will honor women who are breaking barriers and creating change in their communities.

Women leaders, entrepreneurs, journalists, activists, and community builders will come together online on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 4:00 PM for a global celebration organized by Target Peace, founded by Amy Banda, in partnership with

She Thrives Global, led by Ambassador Edith Abumbi.

The event is part of the activities marking the 64th Day of the African Woman Fellowship. In line with the theme, “African Women and the Water Future,” the program will launch Phase 2 of “The Excellent, Smart, & Supportive Woman – Give to Gain.”

According to organizers, the fellowship will highlight women who have turned challenges into opportunities, while fostering collaboration and collective empowerment.

“The event will provide a platform to reflect on the journeys of African women who continue to break barriers in leadership, business, education, health, politics, and social development,” Target Peace stated.  

“She waters the harvest. She moves mountains,” organizers added, describing the gathering as a tribute to women whose work inspires change across generations.

Featured speakers include:

- Queen Clarisse Douala Bell

- Yaah Gladys Shang Viban

- Adaora Onyechere Sydney-Jack, Founder of Wewe Network Afrique

- Lumbie Mlambo, Zimbabwean humanitarian

- Dr. Karen Bruges, Global Chair of the Zero Hunger Mission

- Plus women leaders in media, healthcare, politics, entrepreneurship, mental health, culture, and advocacy

The fellowship will also spotlight the “Action Woman” initiative, which recognizes women driving positive change. Members of the public are invited to nominate women making a difference in their communities.

The event will be held online via Google Meet.  

Organizers say it aims to create space for networking, inspiration, and renewed commitment to building stronger support systems for women across Africa and beyond.
