Prime Minister Dion Ngute Commissions Projects, Boosts Biya's Re-Election Bid

The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has officially commissioned the Bamenda-Babadjou road which spans from Babadjou in the West Region to Welcome to Bamenda in the North West Region.

The road network that started on the 4th July 2017 suffered a setback when separatists fighters set a heavy duty equipment belonging to Sogea Satom on fire on the 22nd August 2018 in Akum leading to considerable delay in the execution of the project.

The Prime Minister recounted that despite the incident, the Government was resolute that they will deliver the project and factored BUNS Construction company in.

Today, the Yaounde-Bafoussam-Bamenda-Ekok-Enugu corridor is almost complete with just the urban crossing of Bamenda left.

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute said that the government is also resolute to deliver on the 30 metres width Bamenda Urban Crossing which spans 6.2km and will be constructed at a cost of 26.7 billion Francs.

The road once completed will ease traffic circulation in Bamenda and also prevent the frequent breakdown of cars and transform Bamenda into a beautiful city.

Earlier on, the Prime Minister was treated to projects implemented by the French Debt Relief Fund (C2D) at the auditorium of the North West Regional Assembly.

Here, 

✓15 toilets in public schools 
✓ 13 bridges 
✓ 4 Sport playgrounds 
✓ 100 street lights
✓ 33 disposal waste platforms 
✓ The footpath from Upstation to down town 
✓ the rehabilitation of the municipal library
✓ extension of water supply in Bamenda I
✓ 504 metres of road have been done through direct labour while 200 youths were employed and 199 indirect jobs were created and the project is complete.

Also, the a municipal slaughter house was rehabilitated and they have engaged the construction of 420 market stalls in Nkwen at the cost of 1.4 billion, are some of the projects implemented by the fund. 

Specifically in the domain of roads, the French Debt Relief Fund is taking care of Vicky street, Fon's street, Ndamukong to Foncha street, Veterinary junction to the City council amongst others. The project will also see playgrounds like GS Upstation, GS Nibung and the Bamenda Parcour Vita upgraded.

The presentation from C2D was met with a thunderous applause which speaks of how transformed Bamenda will be when the projects are realized and on time.

Under the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, the Welcome to Bamenda- Tradex Road has been tarred, the surroundings of the University of Bamenda has been tarred amounting to some 5km while two major bridges at La Chance in Mankon and the bridge linking Mile three to Mile four have been constructed at 100 percent.

The Ministry of Urban Development was also happy to announce that the custom junction- GBHS Bamenda road will be tarred. 

This was met with a lot of joy as the City of Bamenda now expects a total transformation of its existing roads and the creation of new ones.

After the presentations the Prime Minister, Head of Government officially commissioned the Mile four bridge and launched the construction of an administrative bloc at the Mile 4 market in Nkwen.

After enumerating everything all the projects envisaged and those ongoing in the North West Region in the infrastructure and road sector, the Prime Minister, Head of Government called on the population to standby President Paul Biya.

He said; "In order to support his Visionary approach, Which prioritizes the balanced development of all regions, We know the choice to make in the upcoming elections. With president Paul Biya we will succeed. With president Paul Biya,We can succeed. With president Paul Biya,We must succeed." Prime Minister Dion Ngute Said.

He was categorical that only the re-election of President Paul Biya can guarantee the holistic development of the entire country more especially the development of the North West Region.
