In a remarkable demonstration of political unity and grassroots mobilization, the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in Mezam IV has successfully raised more than ten million CFA francs in support of President Paul Biya’s forthcoming re-election campaign. The event took place on Saturday September 20, 2025. This substantial fundraising achievement underscores the party’s commitment to strengthening its influence amid Bafut’s complex socio-political environment.
Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence, the Section President and a dedicated CPDM leader, outlined the campaign’s strategic priorities aimed at consolidating the party’s presence ahead of the presidential elections. His approach focuses on restoring trust and encouraging broad-based political participation within the community.
Key initiatives include:
Community Engagement and Trust Restoration: Recognizing Bafut’s history of political tensions, the campaign prioritizes direct dialogue with traditional authorities, youth groups, women’s organizations, and religious leaders. This inclusive approach is designed to amplify diverse community voices and address their concerns effectively.
Ensuring Security and Peaceful Participation: Collaborating closely with local officials and civil society, the campaign promotes a safe electoral environment where voters can exercise their rights free from intimidation or violence.
Civic Education and Voter Awareness: To combat voter apathy and misinformation, the campaign is deploying grassroots education programs through town hall meetings, radio broadcasts, and youth forums, emphasizing the critical role of voting in community development.
Empowerment of Youth and Women: Acknowledging the essential roles of youth and women, targeted initiatives provide leadership training and create avenues for active political engagement.
Tailored Political Messaging: Campaign communications are customized to address Bafut’s specific developmental needs, focusing on healthcare, education, infrastructure, and economic growth, moving beyond generic political rhetoric.
Coalition Building and Conflict Resolution: The campaign actively promotes unity by fostering coalitions that cross political divides, aiming to maintain peace and solidarity during the electoral period.
Hon. Gordon Chebelem expressed strong confidence in the CPDM’s vision, stating, “My support stems from the party’s unwavering commitment to peace, development, and unity in Bafut and throughout Cameroon. Together, we are advancing infrastructure, education, and economic opportunities for our people.”
Grassroots activist Miriam Chesi shared her personal engagement, saying, “I participate actively in community mobilization by attending fundraisers and volunteering during rallies. We are conveying a message of hope and stability that CPDM embodies. Together, we ensure that Bafut’s voice remains strong under the party’s leadership.”
The head of the President Paul Biya Campaign team in Bafut underscored the importance of every vote and contribution: “This campaign is not about the numbers alone but the dedication behind them. Every vote is vital for change. The sacrifices made reflect our deep commitment to the CPDM. Bafut is poised not only to meet but exceed expectations. The nation is watching, and we are ready to deliver.”
Through these collective efforts, the CPDM in Mezam IV is determined to secure a decisive mandate for President Paul Biya, reinforcing peace, stability, and development for the people of Bafut.
