The population of Santa has expressed profound thanks to the members of the Achidi Achu Foundation at the start of a health campaign in the subdivision.
The thanks was expressed by the Mayor of Santa, His Royal Majesty Fon Samkie Elvis Gahnyam II, who was explicit on the achievements of the Achidi Achu Foundation in the subdivision.
"This is a laudable initiative from the Achidi Achu Foundation under the chairperson, Judith Yah Sunday Epouse Achidi. I implore the people of our municipality to take advantage of this rare gift to get themselves consulted and treated.
"For a widow to think about us in this way is very rare. It only means that we did not lost Pa Achi. God rather gave us a caring mother." The Mayor said.
The free community health campaign is unfolding under the theme;" Peace to foster health for all," and will run from the 27th to the 28th August 2025.
According to the District medical officer for Santa, Dr Mbam Leo Ambindei, the campaign will be carried out by specialists from within and without the North West Region. Key areas of coverage will include general medical, prenatal and gynecological screenings, minor surgical interventions, distribution of hygiene kits, health and peace education workshops, dental care, Opthalmology with the distribution of medical eye glasses, distribution of maternity supplies for pregnant women.
The District medical officer announced that the team is very professional and is dedicated towards delivering the much needed healthcare to the population.
To the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the North West, Dr Ambe Lionel, this campaign is in line with the objectives of the Ministry of Public Health to deliver quality health care to the population at an affordable rate.
To this end, the Regional Delegate challenged the population not to rely on alternative medical care because the hospitals are equipped to handle their illnesses and so they should visit often.
Hundreds of persons were already on standby to begin the consultation process which was a big relief to the Divisional officer for Santa.
He emphasized the need for peace in development.
"It is very important that we maintain and sustain peace in our communities. In this way, such campaigns can be organized regularly and the population will benefit." He said.
The Divisional Officer called on the population present to call their friends from far and wide to come and benefit.
The health campaign from the Achidi Achu Foundation comes to add to the donation of portable water at the administrative quarters, the Market and at Mile 12, few months ago.
Achiri Preseley Achu, Secretary General of the Achidi Achu Foundation said they decided to create the foundation at the first anniversary following the demise of their father and husband. Under the coordination of Judith Yah Sunday Epouse Achidi, the foundation will continue to uphold the practices of their father and husband which is giving back to the community.
"His Excellency Prime Minister Achidi Achu was a selfless man who worked genuinely for mankind. It is our wish to uphold his legacy and we must say a big thank you to Ma Judith Yah Sunday for coordinating us to do this." He said.
Cartoons of pharmaceutical products, eye glasses, kits for pregnant women were all available.
The campaign which targets all age groups will conclude on Thursday 28th August 2025.
