The President of the Republic and National President of the CPDM, Paul Biya has declared that he will be a candidate at the October 12th Presidential Elections.
In announcing his candidature, Paul Biya said; "I am a candidate for the 12 October 2025 presidential election.
Rest assured that my determination to serve you is commensurate with the serious challenges facing us.
Together, there are no challenges we cannot meet.
The best is still to come." His Facebook page read.
The President of the Republic who is seeking his 8th term in office has been head of state for 43 years.
He posted that; "ensuring the security and well-being of the sons and daughters of our beloved and beautiful country is the sacred duty to which I have devoted my time and energy since assuming the helm of the state.
"The results are palpable, visible and laudable.
"Thank you for the massive support you have continued to give in this endeavour." The message read.
The declaration of the President of the Republic clears the air as speculations said he might decide to retire owing to his age.
The declaration comes few days after the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, concluded his broad based consultations with Members of Government and Members of Parliament.
President Paul Biya has been President of Cameroon since the 6th November 1982.
