In a significant development for the cooperative credit union sector in Cameroon, Ndonwi Derick Shu, the esteemed President of Ntambeng Cooperative Credit Union Limited (NtamCCUL), has been elected as the new President of Renaissance Cooperative Credit Unions in Cameroon (RECCU-CAM). This momentous occasion took place during the 12th Annual General Meeting held at the Conference Hall of Ayaba Hotel in Bamenda on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
Shu's election marks a new chapter in the history of RECCU-CAM, as he secured 53 votes, surpassing his opponents from Kimbo Police Cooperative Credit Union Limited (KimCCUL) and Nwametaw Cooperative Credit Union Limited (NwameCCUL), who garnered 16 and 11 votes, respectively. This decisive victory demonstrates the confidence that members have placed in Shu's leadership abilities and vision for the organization.
In his acceptance speech, Shu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the electoral commission for the excellent organization of the elections and to the members for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading RECCU-CAM. He emphasized the importance of good governance and core values in guiding policy implementation, setting the tone for his administration.
The new President outlined his ambitious vision for RECCU-CAM, focusing on redefining the organization's path to build a more independent and economically strong network that is supportive of its affiliates. Key priorities include increasing income-generating opportunities, improving governance practices, and enhancing competitiveness. Shu also stressed the need for collaboration with institutions such as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture to benefit RECCU-CAM.
Mongu Ernest Ningha, President of Santa Central Cooperative Credit Union Limited (SACCCUL), was elected Vice President, and together with Shu, they will work tirelessly to implement their vision and drive RECCU-CAM forward. The new Board of Directors will operate under the theme "Redefining the Path of the Mission and Vision of RECCUCAM, Building a More Responsive, and Credible RECCUCAM Network."
In his closing remarks, Shu called on members to give him and his team their support and confidence, stating that together, they can build a stronger and more responsive RECCUCAM network. He also expressed gratitude to AziCCUL and its president, whom he described as dynamic and hardworking, and looked forward to working together to make RECCUCAM a better place.
