That is why we are using the holistic approach which involves all walks of life." Fon Nsoh said..

He expressed the need for community engagement in the peace building process involving religious institutions, traditional institutions as well as corporate bodies to be advocates of peace.

"We promote what we call community peace-building initiatives. In crisis context, there are different challenges that occur. There is breakdown in relationships within communities, there is an increased number of delinquency especially non-school going youths that become violent and can become radicalized and even extremist." Fon Nsoh said.

Without proper education and orientation he emphasized, new conflicts will sprout up.

Djunang Marcellus, Representative of the Governor of the North West

Speaking at the launch, the representative of the Governor of the North West Region, Djunang Marcellus called on the stakeholders to be active participants in whatever way they can to sustain the peace enjoyed in some communities while working to ensure a return to normalcy in other areas.

He noted that the crisis has been a major hindrance to the development of the region and it is time the region regains its enviable position as a bastion of peace and participatory development.

Participants were grouped into their respective fields to carry out discussions and presentations on how their respective groups can propagate and transmit the message of peace.

In the media group, Public service announcements, micro programs for peace, peace messages on TV, radio and front pages of Newspapers and the media as an advocacy tool for peace were all highlighted.

The goal of the launch lays emphasis on reducing violence and related deaths, ending abuse, exploitation, trafficking and torture of Children, promoting the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice, reducing illicit financial and arms flow while strengthening National institutions to prevent violence and combat terrorism and crime.

COMINSUD's peace building initiative aligns with goal 16 of the United Nations sustainable Goals with focus on promoting Peace, stability and inclusion in the North West Region.
