Quarter Secretary presenting the plights of the quarter 

Inhabitants of Upper Atu-Azire (popularly known as Upper Metta) Quarter have paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Bamenda II council, Chenwi Peter.

Speaking on behalf of the Quarter, the Quarter Secretary Lonan Joseph said they had come to appreciate the Mayor for his frantic efforts in ensuring that development comes to the Municipality. 

"Our children have benefitted from didactic materials, our women have gone home with foodstuffs, the physically challenged have all benefitted from the good gestures of the Mayor and today we came to say thank you." Lonan Joseph told the Observer.

Like Oliver twist the, quarter requested for good roads, electricity and water.

Coming some few days before the budgetary session of the Bamenda II council, Mayor Peter Chenwi promised that a borehole will be provided to the quarter in 2024 and the allocated site should be communicated to the council without delay.




As concerns electricity, he has promised solar street lights in very dark areas of the quarter meanwhile the council is very ready, he said, to carry-on the maintenance of road infrastructure in the quarter.

As concerns the maintenance of roads, Nchinda Robert of the North West Regional Assembly, called on the quarter to look for a road that can be developed using the High Intensity Labour Approach and propose it to the council for onward transmission to the Assembly. This he says will lead to the employment of the youth.


The visit of Upper Atu-Azire quarter to Mayor Peter Chenwie, is the first of a quarter to the Mayor and was clad in the exchange of gifts.
