Tegni Fidel- SDO Boyo

The Senior Divisional Officer for Boyo Division Tegni Fidel has called on councillors of the Division to be responsible citizens to give the first ever Regional Elections a bright phase.

Speaking Saturday December 6, 2020, he called on the councillors to be audacious for a smooth implementation of the special status granted to the North West and South West regions

"You all need to be responsible, be audacious and to even develop an attitude of focus so that tomorrow we will be able to assess the positive input of the era of this decentralisation"

Speaking to the Observer237.com, the SDO urged all councillors to work hand in glove with the regional councillors who will be elected. They should be law abiding and exemplary councillors

"A platform of collaboration needs to be consolidated between municipal councillors and regional councillors. This is for the efficient implementation of the special status granted to North West and South West regions. All councils are in competition and in the North West region where Boyo is located geographically, in the heart of the North West region the council need to show the way. They need to showcase the respect of law and order"

Quizzed about the the importance of the elections, Mr Tegni Fidel says it is a turning point for the region.

"The election is a turning point as the accelerated decentralisation process is concerned.
With the putting in place of the Regional council or the regional authority it is even historic to us because we are going to have once more the House of Chiefs which is very innovative and even those who have the nostalgia of the past are proud of this consolidation of the part of the grassroots decentralisation. Both the regional and local authorities need to work together for the welfare of our population and that is their target."

Elections will be conducted Sunday 6 December 2020, where regional councillors will ne voted for the commemoration of the special status granted to the North West region
