Bamenda II Council Feeds 5000 students with Didactic materials

The Mayor of Bamenda II Council, Chenwi Peter has handed didactic materials to some 5000 young persons who answered present as the subdivision ended it's back to sensitisation

The ceremony, Saturday October 3rd at epic center Old town Bamenda in the presence of the Divisional Officer for Bamenda II, principals, teachers and parents. The package distributed included exercise books, pens, pencils erasers, school bags, rulers, and sharpeners. Sanitary kits like toothpaste, sanitizers, bucket taps, soap and others. 

The handing over comes hours after the release of the GCE Ordinary and Advanced levels 

In the Mayor's welcome address, he acknowledged the fact that schools have been timid in the municipality but only togetherness can revive the status quo of schools in the region. He called on quater heads, parents and teachers to unanimously see into it that children return to the classrooms. 

"I will like to call on all stakeholders including principals, teachers, quarter heads and parents to come together let's see that our children go to school."

"I have decided to grant scholarships to some students in the area who excel well in 
the recent results of the just ended GCE and FSLC."  

To effectively execute this plan, 10 taxis have been put on the road to transport students to school free of charge.

COVID-19 kits donated by Minisy Felix Mbayu were provided to the children and schools to ensure a COVID-19 free environment 

Mayor Chenwi Peter further requested that parents facing difficulties in paying school fees will be assisted by the council 

Scholarships were granted to some seven students with hearing, visual disabilities to facilitate their education process

The inspector Basic education for Bamenda II,vNsalia Genesis used the back to campaign to call on teachers and parents to support this initiative 

"This is a challenge to us all teachers and parents, to ensure a smooth school year 2020-2021."

Persons with disability receive special support

In his keynote address, the DO of Bamenda II, Nicholas Nkongho, while thanking the Mayor, encouraged parents to brave the odds, conquer fear and enjoy the fruits of education in future

"I want to call on teachers who were playing the double game of propagating back to school to the administration and condeming it in public to stop. Any teacher who will not be in school will have their salaries suspended." The DO hinted 

 After receiving didactic materials, a student who has been migrating for education narrated her ordeal and welcomed the fact that schools will resume in the region and reduce the stress on her parents 

"I started my primary school here in Bamenda but later moved to the South region. Now that schools are resuming I will stay home.I came back to Bamenda because my mother said she doesn't have money to pay for the transportation, coupled with feeding and fees. She wants me to return so she can actually take care of me." Nju Audrey narrated.
