Awoh Ndang, Mbigha Felix take leadership of UCCC NW

The Mayor of the Municipality of Fundong, Denis Awoh Ndang has been elected by acclamation as the President of the United Councils and Cities of Cameroon, UCCC, North West

The elections July 10 in Bamenda saw the list of Awoh Ndang go through unopposed. He will be assisted in his functions by Bamenda I Mayor, Mbigha Felix

While supervising the elections, North West Governor Adolphe Lele L'Afrique enjoined the new leadership to standby the Presidential plan for the reconstruction of the North West and South West Regions. To use this mandate to instill confidence between the people and the local adminstration

The economy of the North West has been battered by recurrent ghost towns and lockdowns imposed by separatist fighters. UCCC that brings together all the 35 Mayors of the Region must brainstorm to stop this and revitalise the economy of the Region. This was the most urgent Mission handed to the new leadership by the Governor

Mayors have come under attacks since the February 9 elections. The Mayor of Mbengwi kidnapped, first deputy for Bamenda II spent weeks in capacity. To avert this, Lele L'Afrique prescribed

"Don't take chances when traveling. Be accompanied by security elements. Do not think they don't know you"

The insecurity in some Divisions has forced some councils to operate from Bamenda. The Governor has called on Mayors to go back to their council areas and work from there

The Elections also saw Executives of the Divisional bureau installed

Dighabong Anthony of Wum, Fonguh Cletus of Bamenda III and Acha Kennedy of Batibo will represent the Region at the National level

Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang is former North West Regional Delegate of Public Works and takes over from Chenwi Abert, former Mayor of Ndop
