Mbengwi D.O Challenges MECUDA to Fight Terrorism like COVID-19



MECUDA (Meta Cultural and Development Association) has joined hands with other Elites and Associations of Meta to provide kits to help fight COVID-19 in Meta land. 

MECUDA, the development association of the clan being very organized joined hands with other Meta natives both home and abroad, who have their community at heart to combat the spread of coronavirus under a project called METACREC (Meta Anti Covid Response Challenge). The project comprises of fons, politicians, village development associations, diaspora, individuals, elites, MESTA (Meta Student's Association) and foundations pulling resources together to  combat the pandemic through sensitisation and provision of preventive items to the population.


The items donated by the Anti Covid Response Challenge project includes sanitary buckets, cartons of soap, hand sanitizers and protective face mask, which were handed Thursday May 7, 2020 in Mbengwi (Mbon park).

The Divisional Officer (D.O) in response to this gesture, thanked MECUDA and the METACREC project. “Thank you MECUDA for making us proud, thank you for making the Mbengwi community and municipality very proud.”


Meta (Mbengwi) has been one of the areas greatly hit by the ongoing socio-political unrest in the North West Region, reason why in the D.O’s address, he urged MECUDA to also create the Meta Anti Terrorist Response Challenge (METATREC) to combat terrorism in the land.


Sakwe Jarvis Esapa, the D.O said "I also want to use this as an opportunity to reiterate that the government is calling on the sons and daughters of this land to watch on the security of this subdivision. Those in the bushes are our sons and daughters. If MECUDA could come out with a cultural, development and anti covid plan, I also charge this same organization to come out with an Anti Terrorism plan to see how those in the bushes could be able to come out and surrender their weapons.”


Demonstrations on how these things are to be used, proper hand washing, mask wearing  and sensitization on the coronavirus pandemic was done, to set a pace for others to follow.


HRH Fon Etienne Mbah of Gundom village saluted this effort and stated his plan of action. “I am really impressed with what the Meta children through MECUDA are doing.  When I go back to my village, I am going to call my people for sensitization and will implement the rule of sanitary buckets in every household.” He added that " Health is wealth. Let us follow the preventive measures and send away the coronavirus from our communities."
