The Mayor of Bamenda 2 Council, Chenwi Peter has promised to re-establish public Taps on the streets of Bamenda 2 as a matter of Urgency

The 43 year old made the pronouncement at his installation on Tuesday March 17th at Ayaba Hotel

Public Taps disappeared from the city of Bamenda some 10 years ago when Vincent Nji Ndumu took over as Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council

The Mayor also promised to improve on the hygiene and sanitation situation of his municipality that has dirt littered at every road junction



Some villages like Nsongwa and Mbatu have been going through water crisis as well as some quarters in Mankon. A situation he promises to arrest with an extension program soonest. Water like Electricity will receive a similar attention

Bamenda 2 Subdivision plays host to IDPs coming from conflict hit zones of the North West. Most of whom are unemployed and distress. Chenwi Peter assures them that he will reduce the rents paid to the council, with some special incentives like tax holidays



With the coming of the code on Decentralisation and more powers devolved to Councils, he promises to create new jobs for the people of Bamenda

In his installation speech, Mezam SDO, Mooh Emile Simon challenged the new team to be people focus and meet the challenges of the population especially with the extension of water, Electricity and Job creation amongst others

Chenwi Peter is a Ph D research student in Information Technology and has been a member of the National bureau of the YCPDM since 2010
