National Youth Day: UBa Emerges best Institution for Youth Week Activities

The University of Bamenda have been awarded the trophy as the institution that distinguished itself during the youth week activities and the 54th Youth day celebrations.

The trophy was handed over to Prof. Theresa Nkuo Akenji, Vice Chancellor of The University of Bamenda by North West Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique during the celebrations at the Bamenda Commercial avenue grandstand.

The University of Bamenda was instrumental during the youth week activities in Bamenda where hundreds of students from the institution took part in the activities. They defeated CENAJES Bamenda to grab the trophy.

Celebrated under the theme "Youths, Peace, Decentralisation and Participation in local governance for a new Cameroon", hundreds of students from The University of Bamenda came out to show their love for the nation.

Some 10 youths drawn from the region received Youths Excellence Awards for their works ranging from farming, peace building and humanitarian activities.

Speaking after the match pass in Bamenda, North West Governor said that this year's theme has been placed around youths and peace and this call is coming after the Major National Dialogue.

"Many youths have been elected and we are celebrating their success today. If you work hard, you must harvest the fruits of your labour", North West Governor said



He encouraged the youths to use the many opportunities given to them by the government to create jobs for themselves.

The 54th edition of the National Youth Day celebrations in Bamenda brought together youths from some six secondary and higher institutions of learning from across Bamenda.
