North West Chief correspondent for My Media Prime TV, Charles Kebua has supported pupuls and students going to school with some 5,000 books.

The books were distributed in Wum on Sunday, October 18, through a local education support group called the Learners' Parents of the Kubelili of Aghem.

According to the donor, the goal is to encourage children to return to school and to use education as a way to promote peace in Menchum.

For almost 10 years, the Anglophone crisis has badly affected education in Aghem and many other communities in the North West and South West Regions. Many schools have been closed or disrupted, thousands of children have dropped out, and most families cannot afford books and other school materials.

Many pupils in Aghem have been learning without textbooks and exercise books. This has made learning more difficult and increased the number of children who drop out of school completely.

The donation by Charles Kebua is therefore seen as a timely help.

"This is more than just books. It is a message of hope to our children that despite the crisis, their future still matters. Education is the only path that can rebuild Aghem," a representative of the parents' group said.

The organizers say the donation is not just about school. By giving the books through the parents' group, the initiative brings parents, traditional leaders, and young people together to work for one common goal - the education of their children.

In a community where the crisis has created mistrust and division, such joint efforts around education can help rebuild unity.

Kebua, who is from Aghem, said education is key to peace.

"When a child has a book in his hand, he has less time to hold a stone or a gun. If we want peace in Menchum, we must give our children reasons to believe in the future. Education is that reason," he said.

Parents and pupils who received the books thanked him, saying the support will relieve many families who struggle to buy school supplies.

The initiative is intended to keep many pupils and students in school.
