Cameroon’s economic capital, Douala, is set to host the prestigious 2026 edition of the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers’ Association (CENPA) annual recognition award ceremony on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The grand event will take place at the historic André Siaka Hall within the GeCAM headquarters in Douala, bringing together eminent personalities from home and the diaspora.
Placed under the distinguished patronage of the Minister of Communication, the high-profile awards ceremony serves to honour deserving Cameroonian men, women, and corporate entities who have made exceptional contributions to nation-building, socio-economic progress, peace, and public welfare.
Top government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, political figures, civil society representatives, religious authorities, and traditional rulers have already confirmed their attendance to celebrate this year’s distinguished laureates. To ensure widespread coverage, roughly 30 national and international media organizations have been officially accredited to broadcast and report on the ceremony.

Re-elected unanimously by his peers to lead the association earlier this year, Ngah Christian has consistently championed press freedom, professional solidarity, and the financial survival of independent publishers.
Founded as a professional umbrella body bringing together 40 English-language newspaper publishers across Cameroon, CENPA plays a pivotal role in the national media landscape. The association was established with the primary objective of promoting ethical journalism, responsible reporting, conflict-sensitive news coverage, and national cohesion. Through capacity-building workshops, editorial standards enforcement, and public advocacy, CENPA continuously equips publishers and editors to practice peace journalism, counter hate speech, and contribute constructively to Cameroon's democratic growth.
