The 26th edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Grand Prix has ended in Yaoundé after five stages of intense competition, determination and impressive performances from cyclists.
The closing ceremony took place at the 20th May Boulevard in Yaoundé and was presided over by Cameroon’s First Lady, Madam Chantal Biya, who is the patron of the competition.
The five-day competition brought together cyclists who battled through different stages, with riders demonstrating courage, endurance and a strong desire to win.
At the end of the final stage, Algerian cyclist Hamza Amari emerged as the overall winner, taking home the prestigious final yellow jersey.
Cameroon also recorded a notable performance through national champion Clovis Kamzong Abossolo, who distinguished himself throughout the competition and won the Blue Jersey.
In recognition of his performance, the Director General of CAMTEL personally awarded Kamzong Abossolo a special cash prize of FCFA 1 million, in addition to his stage prize.
The reward was presented as part of CAMTEL's support for sporting talent and its commitment to promoting hard work and excellence among Cameroonians.
Throughout the competition, CAMTEL, described as a 100 percent Cameroonian network, supported the event by connecting cycling enthusiasts, accompanying the riders and sharing the excitement of the competition with the public.
The 26th edition ended with congratulations to all the cyclists, organisers, volunteers and supporters who contributed to the success of the competition.
The Chantal Biya International Cycling Grand Prix is part of Cameroon's efforts to promote cycling and provide a platform for athletes to demonstrate their talent and compete at an international level.
The cycling community now looks forward to another edition next year as the competition continues its journey towards sporting excellence.
