The Divisional Officer for Bamenda II Subdivision have suspended all activities at the United Pentecostal Church, T-Junction, indefinitely following an internal leadership dispute that authorities say could threaten public peace and order.
The decision was contained in an administrative order signed earlier on September 4th, by the Divisional Officer for Bamenda II, Ibrahima Moussa Ballo.
According to the order, the suspension follows a leadership crisis within the church and is intended to prevent the situation from escalating and affecting peace and security in the area.
All church activities at the T-Junction premises are therefore suspended until further notice.
The administrative order further warns that any person or group that violates the decision will face sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.
The suspension comes amid reports of growing disagreement among members over the leadership and control of the church. The dispute has reportedly created tension among congregants and the population of the surrounding T-Junction neighbourhood.
The Bamenda II administration has not indicated when the church will be allowed to reopen, leaving the suspension in force until further notice.
