For many internally displaced, underprivileged and orphaned children in Menchum Division, Friday, August 28, 2026, will be a moment of hope as didactic materials worth 3 million Francs will be distributed at the Wum Municipal Grandstand.
The donation exercise, which is being coordinated by Fon Ju Wilson of Koshin, is expected to benefit children whose education has been affected due to displacement, hardship and other difficult circumstances mainly caused by the Anglophone crisis.
The initiative which is another form of support to the people of Menchum, comes from the President of the Republic through the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, and the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, Henri Eyebe Ayissi.
Didactic materials consisting of books, pens, rulers, mathematics sets, bags and scholarships will be handed to the children and Students as they plan to start the 2026/2027 academic year on September 7.
The planned distribution comes just days after the Minister of Territorial Administration elevated the Koshin Fondom from a Third Class to a Second Class Fondom.
The elevation was welcomed across the board, including the Member of Parliament for Menchum North, Hon. Kum John Nji, who described the gesture as a sign that the concerns and aspirations of the people of Menchum had not been forgotten.
He penned down an emotional letter to the Minister of Territorial Administration appreciating him for taking such a strategic, development-oriented decision.
Under the coordination of Fon Ju Wilson, the August 28 exercise is expected to bring together beneficiaries and members of the community with one clear message, that of hope, solidarity, comfort in the spirit of living together.
