The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, has coordinated the distribution of humanitarian assistance to some of Cameroon's most vulnerable regions following the receipt of food supplies donated by the Chinese government and the Presidential Couple.
The relief items were officially received on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Douala-Bonabéri Port Container Terminal during a ceremony attended by government officials and representatives of the Chinese government.
The donation from China consisted mainly of rice and wheat. It was complemented by additional relief supplies from the Presidential Couple, including canned food, vegetable oil, buckets, soap and other essential household items intended to support vulnerable populations.
Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Atanga Nji announced that about 120 trucks would be deployed under escort to transport the humanitarian aid to affected communities across the country.
According to the minister, 20 trucks have been allocated to the South West Region, while 40 trucks will deliver supplies to the North West Region. About 67 additional trucks will transport relief items to Bertoua in the East Region, Maroua in the Far North Region and Ngaoundere in the Adamawa Region.
Although humanitarian needs exist in all ten regions of Cameroon, the minister said the government has prioritised assistance to the 31 subdivisions of the South West Region and the 34 subdivisions of the North West Region because of their particular vulnerability.
He noted that the distribution exercise reflects the government's commitment to providing assistance to populations affected by humanitarian challenges while ensuring that relief reaches those most in need.
Minister Atanga Nji also commended the strong and longstanding cooperation between Cameroon and China, describing the donation as another demonstration of the friendship between the two countries.
He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its continued support to Cameroon and acknowledged the role of President Paul Biya in strengthening bilateral relations through his official visits to China, which he said have helped deepen cooperation between the two nations.
The Minister of Territorial Administration was accompanied at the ceremony by the Governor of the Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, the Director General of the Régie du Terminal à Conteneurs (RTC), Lin Dieudonné Onana Ndoh, and other officials.
The relief supplies are expected to reach their respective destinations in the coming days as the government continues efforts to provide humanitarian support to vulnerable communities across the country.
