Members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) met in Bamenda on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the residence of the party's late founder and former National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi. The meeting was led by SDF National Chairman Joshua Osih.
Speaking during the meeting, Osih stressed that the gathering was serious and not a social visit. He noted that several NEC members were absent and said some party officials were still reluctant to return to Bamenda after events that followed the death of Fru Ndi.
Osih said the party leadership is ready to forgive past differences and called on absent members to return and help rebuild the party. He urged members to put unity above personal disagreements and work together for the future of the SDF.
The chairman also warned that members who continue to stay away from party activities should not expect to be considered for important positions such as mayoral or parliamentary candidates. He encouraged party officials to increase their visibility at the national level and ensure that the SDF's message reaches people across Cameroon.
According to Osih, anyone afraid to come to Bamenda may also lack the courage needed to face the ruling CPDM and compete effectively in future elections. He declared that the SDF has returned to Bamenda and remains committed to strengthening its presence in the city and across the country.
Looking ahead to upcoming elections, Osih urged NEC members to remain prepared at all times, noting that elections could be announced unexpectedly. He emphasized that discipline, unity, and hard work will be essential if the party hopes to achieve success.
The chairman also called for a renewed membership drive, encouraging party officials to register new members and update the records of those who have changed their place of residence.
The meeting continued behind closed doors as members discussed party affairs, organizational challenges, and strategies for future elections.
