Traditional rulers from Momo Division have expressed their appreciation to the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, for the steady improvement of roads in the division despite the security challenges facing the North West Region.
The delegation of eight Fons, led by the President of the Meta Fons Union, His Majesty Prof. Fombo, met the Minister on 25 June 2026. The delegation included traditional rulers from the subdivisions of Mbengwi, Njikwa, Batibo and Widikum.
Speaking during the meeting, the Fons said the improved road network has transformed life in many parts of Momo Division. They noted that easier movement of people and goods has boosted business activities and encouraged many sons and daughters of the division living abroad to return home and invest in their communities.
While thanking the Government for the progress made so far, the traditional rulers appealed for more road projects. They requested the construction of about 55 kilometres of additional roads to link farming communities that remain difficult to access, saying better roads would help farmers transport their produce and improve local economic growth.
The delegation also called for faster work on the Bamenda–Mbengwi–Acha Road Project, describing it as a key project for the division. According to the Fons, completing the road will improve access to healthcare, education, tourism and trade. They particularly highlighted the need for easier access to Acha Hospital, which serves as a major referral health facility for the area.
The traditional rulers praised the Minister for fulfilling his commitments to improve the road network in the North West Region and expressed hope that Government investment in infrastructure would continue to support the development of Momo Division.
As a sign of gratitude, the Fons presented the Minister with traditional gifts that reflect the rich cultural heritage of their communities.
In his response, Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi thanked the delegation for their confidence and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to improving road infrastructure across the country in line with the vision of the Head of State.
