Cameroon’s Ministry of Defence has announced the arrest of a military officer accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a military facility in the Centre Region.
According to a statement issued by Navy Captain Atonfack Guemo Cyrille Serge, Head of the Ministry's Communication Division, the suspect, Sub-Lieutenant Mouack Boris, was arrested on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
The ministry said security personnel intervened after hearing the victim's cries for help. The officer, who was serving with the 2nd Intervention Battalion and was in charge of a military detachment in Nachtigal, was immediately taken into custody.
Following his arrest, he was transferred to a military disciplinary facility in Yaoundé, where he remains in detention while investigations continue.
The Ministry of Defence said the young victim received medical care and psychological support. Authorities are also providing assistance to her family during the investigation.
The ministry described the alleged incident as a serious violation of military values, ethics, and honour. It assured the public that both disciplinary and legal proceedings would be launched once the ongoing investigations are completed.
Defence officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring accountability and enforcing the standards expected of members of the armed forces.
