Camtel Unveils Telecommunications Museum, Paving Way for 5G Future

Camtel launched its first-ever Telecommunications Museum at its Yaoundé headquarters on June 10, 2026, marking a significant milestone in preserving Cameroon's technological heritage. The event brought together top officials, including Board Chairman Mohamadou Saoudi and General Assembly President Ngolle Isaac Richard.

"We are opening a new page of history," said General Manager Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, emphasizing the importance of tracing and documenting Cameroon's telecommunications evolution. The museum features immersive displays showcasing the country's communication technology advancements .

This initiative celebrates past achievements and reflects on future challenges, highlighting Camtel's commitment to national coverage and 5G deployment. "Camtel will not sleep if Cameroon is not connected," Achidi asserted.



Camtel's 5G deployment is part of a broader network expansion plan, aiming to increase coverage from 40% to 80% starting in early 2025. The company has already deployed 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies and is ready to activate 5G software components once the national strategy is officially adopted .
