The vulnerable population of Nkwen in Bamenda III subdivision, have received food items from one of Bamenda's philanthropist, Anyele Nesto. He extended humanitarian assistance to vulnerable residents as the community ushered in the year 2026.
The donation ceremony, attended by the Divisional Officer for Bamenda III, the Fon of Nkwen, notables, and community leaders, took place at the Nkwen Fon's Palace, Saturday 3rd January 2026.
In his address, Anyele said the gesture was driven by compassion and solidarity with families facing economic hardship, especially in the context of the ongoing socio-political crisis affecting the region noting that Nkwen has been a safe heaven for many families fleeing the conflict from the rest of the region.
“At the dawn of 2026, we are not only sharing food, we are sharing love, unity, and hope,” he said. He explained that the assistance was offered in January because it is one of the most financially demanding periods of the year. “Every day should be Christmas. January is long and difficult for many households, so this support comes at the right time." he said.
He emphasized that no member of the community should feel abandoned or go hungry, calling on the population to continue supporting widows, orphans, the elderly, and vulnerable families.
The donation consisted of 150 bags of rice and 20 cartons of groundnut oil, benefiting about 300 people.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ndong Alpha expressed gratitude to the donor, praying that God continues to bless him with wisdom and resources to support more people in need.
The Fon of Nkwen, His Majesty Fon Azehfor III, praised Anyele Nesto for putting smiles on the faces of his people. “When my people are happy, I am happy. You are a true son of this land, continue in this spirit,” the Fon declared.
The Divisional Officer for Bamenda III, Austin Sakah, described the gesture as an act of true Christian charity, referencing Matthew 25:35. He said Anyele embodies national unity and peaceful coexistence through practical humanitarian service.
Anyele Nesto is an engineer by profession and a public health expert. His philanthropic gesture in Nkwen adds to the distribution of didactic materials to some 700 school going children in the Bemenda I Municipality where he is resident.
The caravan to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable will continue in Bamenda II and Bali subdivisions in the weeks ahead.
As he left Nkwen, he called on beneficiaries to remain committed to peace, unity, resilience, and mutual support, reaffirming his readiness to continue contributing to the development and social welfare of Nkwen.
