The Kelden University Institute Yaoundé, in partnership with the Northern Consortium of UK Universities (NCUK), has launched the Kelden International Pathways Center, marking a significant milestone in Cameroon's higher education landscape. This launch coincided with the matriculation of the center's pioneer batch.
The center offers students a unique opportunity to pursue a one-year international foundation studies in Cameroon, leading to direct entry into the second year of a degree program at any NCUK partner university abroad.
In her address, Mrs Liesl May, NCUK Regional Manager Middle East and Africa, welcomed the students to the NCUK community, emphasizing the launch as the beginning of their journey to study abroad. The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E Matt Woods, praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to strengthen bilateral links between Cameroon and the UK.
The partnership aims to address financial constraints, complicated admissions processes, and lack of accredited preparatory programs, integrating global academic standards into Cameroon's higher education system. One student from the pioneer batch has already secured a spot at a UK partner university, demonstrating the effectiveness of the pathway model.
Students were encouraged to stay focused and prepared for international opportunities, serving as trailblazers and laying a strong foundation for future generations. The ceremony concluded with the unveiling of the Kelden International Pathway Center's plaque and a tour of the facility.
