The Head of the CPDM Regional campaign team for the North West, Philemon Yang has called on municipal councillors to vote massively for the CPDM list at the November 30th Regional Elections.
The CPDM party leader for the North West was speaking at the Bamenda Congress Hall on Saturday 15th November 2025 as campaigns for the regional elections were effectively launched.
Philemon Yang prescribed party discipline as a watchword to the councillors emphasizing that "All our militants, all our Regional councillors, all our municipal councillors are all creations of the CPDM. If the CPDM weren't in place you won't be where you are. Sometimes we have heard of cases where electors think that because they did get a given contract for money , that they didn't get the monetary things in their favour, or they didn't plug one thing or the other they think that they can show they're more intelligent. Please all militants at all levels must respect the discipline of our party in all places and at all times."
He called on them to bank on the achievements of the Regional Assembly of the North West in its quest to develop the region.
"The Regional Assembly has done much despite the difficulties. So I asked them to work so that our Region becomes number one. I reminded them that the process of decentralization has become irreversible and the assembly will revive local cultures, enhance the pivotal role of this region in the stability of our national institutions, and work so that local democracy is enhanced." Philemon Yang told the audience.
The CPDM list is running unopposed in the House of Divisional Representatives which counts 70 members. Meanwhile multiple lists are found in some Divisions as Fons try to get seats in the 20-member House of Chiefs.
The CPDM in its strategy has made it clear that despite being the only party in competition, the turn out of its militants and getting 100% victory is the most essential.
Being the second ever regional Assembly elections, the North West Regional Assembly has become a reference in the country.
The execution of the Peace and Development Initiative (PDI), took projects to all the 34 subdivisions of the North West and empowered young people. This was saluted by the Minister of Decentralization, Georges Elanga Obam. He called on the North West to share their template with the rest of the country.
The construction of the emergency centre at the Bamenda Regional Hospital, the ongoing establishment of the dry port, the construction and renovation of district hospitals, secondary schools (construction of science laboratories), the conduct of the first ever North West Economic Forum which empowered young startups have been the Hallmark of the first five years which former Prime Minister, Philemon Yang termed it a learning process.
The November 30th Regional Elections comes at the heels of the just concluded Presidential Elections.
While welcoming the party hierarchy to Bamenda, the leader of the CPDM Mezam campaign team, Felix Mbayu, congratulated the North Westerners for choosing stability over anarchy.
"The CPDM was born of a dream of a great statesman and most of his life, he has worked to accomplish that dream. Some people dream and expect that the dream becomes reality overnight. In the CPDM we dream and start working to ensure that we realize that dream.
''These elections are cardinal. We have to work hard to ensure that our councillors are all on board" Minister Felix Mbayu told The Observer.
The party took out time to present the over 70 people shortlisted with a clear message of ensuring a 100 percent victory on November 30.
On the polling day, the constituency is the Division and elections will take place at the Divisional Headquarters.
