The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has said the security situation of the North West Region is under control, Nine days to the Presidential Elections.
Paul Atanga Nji was speaking in Bamenda, Friday 3rd October 2025 as he chaired the security meeting of the Region.
Being the 10th region that he is visiting, the Minister called on the population of the North West Region to shun separatists activities that have hampered the economy of the North West.
To the Minister, the activities of the separatist fighters who issue lockdowns, ghost towns, burn schools, kidnap people for ransom, maim people, collect money before burials is a perfect example of "Anglophones marginalizing anglophones." The Minister said.
"Parents take charge of your children. If you people can control your children, talk to them, this crisis will end in the next one week, two weeks or the next month." The Minister hinted.
Minister Paul Atanga Nji said he came to Bamenda to evaluate the security situation as well as do an assessment of the ongoing electoral process.
Paul Atanga Nji said that the ongoing political process in Cameroon is very vital for the future of the country. To this end, he said the President of the Republic, Paul Biya has prescribed that the Presidential elections should take place across all the 360 subdivisions of Cameroon. That the administrative authorities and the forces of law and order should accompany Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), its personnel and its materials to all the interior areas of the country. The Minister said to achieve this, the security forces will transport the materials to distant and enclave areas by helicopter, at least five days to polling day.
"Peace, security and tranquility should be assured and maintained before, during and after the elections. The administrative authorities should ensure that the laws are respected."
To ensure that the political parties respect the guidelines in the law, MINAT has produced the Observers Guide and the judicial guide.
He called on the political parties to be responsible, avoid irresponsible pronouncements, avoid tribalism and hate speech. He prescribed that, parties who have post electoral grievances should seek redress in the courts and not on the streets.
"We will not tolerate any disorder. The process will be free and fair and will be carried out in a secured environment. Those who want to cry should cry at home."
The Minister ended his submission by saying that Cameroon will not be open to adventurers.
The security meeting was attended by the Security High command of the 5th Joint Military Region, Gendarmerie Region and the administrative authorities of the region. In attendance were the Senior Divisional Officers of the seven Divisions of the North West.
