The Mayor of Tubah has called on the powers that be to split the Tubah Council into other council units.
The Mayor was speaking as the council converged for its midterm evaluation session, Friday 1st August 2025.
Mayor Tanjong Martin said Tubah is too big to be one administrative unit and its size and population warrants it to be multiple administrative units.
"If this council area is split, we will have more projects, a bigger budget, it will be easy to meet the demands of the population and also the over 20,000 students who are studying here." Mayor Tanjong Martin said.
This advocacy for another subdivision to be created within Tubah was first echoed when the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute visited the subdivision on the 4th July 2025.
"Tubah is no longer a rural council. The council is semi-urban. When you look at the sizes of the villages that make up Tubah, it is difficult with our meagre resources and one council area to meet the demands of the people. I am appealing that Tubah be divided into one or two council areas. They're other smaller places passing for City councils. Tubah can be transformed to be one." Mayor Tanjong Martin said.
Councillors of Tubah Council aligned with the Mayor and made a plea to the Divisional officer of Tubah to help facilitate the file.
Massango Metougue Narcisse, Divisional Officer for Tubah said at any time such a file will arrive at his table, it will be transmitted without delay.
Tubah has four main villages consisting of Bambui, Bambili, Kedjom Keku and Kedjom Ketinguh. It shares boundaries with Ngoketunjia, Boyo and Mezam Divisions of the North West Region.
